Uncertainty continues over India’s tour of Bangladesh

India’s white-ball tour of Bangladesh still continues to remain in uncertainty, with Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Tamim Iqbal confirming that the proposed series may not go ahead as planned. Both cricket boards are currently in discussions over the tour, which is scheduled to start in early September.
Notably, the tour has already experienced a prolonged delay. It was earlier expected to take place in August last year, but the series was postponed and rescheduled for September 2026. In January, the BCB announced that India were expected to play a six-match white-ball series, involving three ODIs and three T20Is.
“Both boards remain in discussion about the India series. The dates may be shifted here or there. This tournament is being held in Mirpur, but it can be shifted to the Basundhara ground in two minutes. If the India series is locked and fixed, we will schedule it accordingly,” Tamim said.
Tamim’s remarks came as he announced the Game Development Trophy, which is an age-group tournament which will be held from August 28 to September 9. The delay also follows the strained relations between both boards. The relationship between both boards soured following Kolkata Knight Riders’ decision to release Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman from the squad. Later, BCB decided not to send Bangladesh team to the T20I World Cup, which was co-hosted by India.
