Sri Lanka all-rounder Dewmi Vihanga ruled out of Women's T20 Asia Cup

Sri Lanka have suffered a big jolt ahead of the Women's T20 Asia Cup, with promising all-rounder Dewmi Vihanga ruled out of the tournament because of a right-knee injury. Vihanga, who had been included in the squad, did not travel with the team to the UAE after picking up the injury during a practice match.

To replace her in the squad, Sri Lanka have called up left-arm spinner Nimasha Meepage, who is hugely experienced. Meepage made her T20I debut in December 2025 and has featured for Sri Lanka 14 times across formats. She has represented Sri Lanka in nine T20I, taking six wickets at an average of 38.33. Sri Lanka have been placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Indonesia and UAE and they will kick off their campaign by taking on UAE on August 29.
