Bumrah returns as India name squad for Afghanistan T20Is
India have unveiled their 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Afghanistan, with the return of Jasprit Bumrah handing a major boost to the side. Bumrah’s availability in the Indian squad, however, remains subject to fitness. The series, which is set to be played entirely in Delhi, is scheduled for September 13, followed by the second match on September 15 and the final match on September 17.
Bumrah has been on the sidelines for a long time, as he was unavailable for India’s third ODI against England and subsequently did not feature during the team’s recent Test tour of Sri Lanka. Players like Harshit Rana, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar have been named, but their participation is subject to fitness.
Sanju Samson, Arshdeep Singh and Axar Patel have also been included in the squad after being rested from India's T20I series against Zimbabwe. Young batter Vaibhav Sooryavanshi also features in the squad.
