India to host inaugural Women's Champions Trophy

Sri Lanka will no longer host the inaugural edition of the Women’s Champions Trophy, with the ICC moving the tournament to India. Now, India will stage the six-team T20 competition, which is scheduled to take place from February 14 to 28, 2027.
"The first-ever edition of the ICC Women's Champions Trophy will take place from February 14 to 28 in India next year," the ICC said in a statement.
"The event was originally scheduled to take place in Sri Lanka but has now been moved to India as Sri Lanka Cricket continues to make the requisite reforms outlined at the ICC's Annual Conference in July."
The Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai and the Vadodara International Cricket Stadium have been shortlisted as the two venues for the mega event. Sri Lanka’s removal as host comes following the concerns surrounding government involvement in the administration of the cricket board.
However, the change in venue will not affect Sri Lanka’s participation. Sri Lanka earned their place in the tournament by sitting inside the top six of the T20I rankings when the qualification rankings were finalised on July 6. Alongside Sri Lanka, the tournament will also feature Australia, England, India, New Zealand and South Africa.
