“His fielding is electric”: Geoffrey Boycott showers praise on Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja
England great Geoffrey Boycott showered praise on veteran Indian all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, describing him as his favourite cricketer among the players currently active. Calling the Indian star his "favourite present-day cricketer", Boycott explained as to what makes Jadeja stand out to him. Boycott stated that he was impressed by the fact that Jadeja can influence a Test match in many ways, bringing together his left-arm spin, dependable batting and outstanding fielding.
“Jadeja, he bowls beautifully; his fielding is electric, and he can bat, gets his head down and bats properly. And he is a handsome so-and-so. I met him for the first time recently,” Boycott said on the Stick to Cricket podcast.
Boycott revealed that he crossed paths with Jadeja during a visit to India in 2025 and took the opportunity to personally tell the Indian cricketer how highly he regarded him.
“Last year I went to India, and I met him. I said, ‘You are my favourite cricketer. ‘ He said, ‘ No way,’ and I said, ‘Definitely.’ Very handsome and a nice lad. Just a good cricketer, isn’t he? All-round cricketer,” he added.
Jadeja has been one of the most reliable players for India, having played a total of 91 Test matches. Recently, he was in action during India's Test series against Sri Lanka, where he registered a massive milestone by joining an esteemed group of players in Test history who have scored at least 4,000 runs and taken 350 wickets.
