Deepti Sharma makes big gains in T20I bowling rankings
Indian star Deepti Sharma has made massive gains in the Women’s T20I bowling rankings, jumping two spots to rise to No. 6. The boost comes after her tremendous outings in the ongoing Women’s Asia Cup where she has so far claimed eight wickets in three games. Her performance played a key role in helping India become the first team to book a place in the semi-finals of the tournament. Indian youngster N Shree Charani holds the top position.
Notably, Deepti Sharma held the top spot in the bowlers’ rankings in December last year; however, Shree Charani’s terrific form has kept Deepti away from the top position. Now, Sophie Ecclestone, Charlie Dean, Nonkululeko Mlaba and Laure Bell sit between Charani and Deepti.
There were also other players to make big gains, with Bangladesh’s Marufa Akter climbing 19 places to 18th in the rankings. Sri Lanka’s Chamari Athapaththu jumped five spots to 28th, while Bangladesh's Sultana Khatun rose nine places to settle on 37th. Thailand’s Thipatcha Putthawong hopped four spots to 47th.
