Sri Lanka confirm squad for 2026 Women’s Asian Games
Sri Lanka have named a strong 15-member squad for the upcoming 2026 Women’s Asian Games, with Chamari Athapaththu set to lead the contingent. Sri Lanka will kick off their campaign on September 18 by clashing with Malaysian women. The squad sees a few notable names being left out despite having featured in the recently concluded Women’s Asia Cup 2026.
Vishmi Gunarathne, Nilakshika Silva, and Chetana Vimukthi have been omitted from the squad for the Asian Games. However, their absence has opened the doors for other players. Meanwhile, there are experienced names in the squad in Harshitha Samarawickrama, Kaveesha Dilhari, Hansima Karunaratne, and Anushka Sanjeewani. Notably, Sri Lankan women recently finished as runners-up in the Women’s Asia Cup, going down to Indian women in the final.
