Abhishek Sharma, Sanju Samson make massive gains in T20I batting rankings
Indian opener Abhishek Sharma has jumped one place to occupy the No. 2 position in the ICC men’s T20I batting rankings following his outstanding performance in the opening T20I against Afghanistan, in which he pummelled 82 off 32, launching seven boundaries and as many sixes.
With the gain of one spot, Abhishek has gone past Pakistan batter Sahibzada Farhan. Meanwhile, Ishan Kishan continues to hold the top spot. Sanju Samson also made huge progress, climbing four places to No. 30. He was in blistering form in the second T20I against Afghanistan, smashing 57 runs in India's seven-wicket win that also sealed the series for them. The men in blue have been in red-hot form in the ongoing series, delivering thunderous performances and making things utterly difficult for Afghanistan.
In the second T20I on Tuesday, Afghanistan, after being asked to bat, struggled to handle the pressure, with Indian bowlers running riot and restricting the side to 159/8 in 20 overs. On the other hand, Chasing the target, India went over the line in 14.5 overs, with Sanju Samson and Abhishek Sharma setting the side off to a great start, hitting 57 and 39, respectively.
