South Africa provide update on Kagiso Rabada
South Africa head coach Shukri Conrad has provided an update on pacer Kagiso Rabada, who is currently undergoing rehabilitation after suffering a right hamstring injury during a training session in mid-August. The injury has also forced Rabada to miss South Africa’s upcoming ODI series against Australia.
"It's going quite nicely, the rehab and the programs that he's on. I'd be very surprised if we didn't see him during the Test series," Conrad told ICC.
"He's such a huge player for us, but he seems to reserve his best for Australia. So I'm pretty confident that we'll see KG (Rabada). There's still a little bit of work to be done."
South Africa are currently second in the WTC 2025-27 standings, with Australia dominating top spot. The upcoming three-match Test series against Australia, which will begin on October 9, will be played at Kingsmead in Durban, St George’s Park in Gqeberha and Newlands in Cape Town.
Conrad, however, asserted that a final decision on Rabada’s availability will be taken later this week. Notably, Rabada’s record against Australia has been impressive. In 11 matches against them, he has taken 58 wickets at an average of 21.39.
