England will miss the services of Jos Buttler for the must-win ODI against Sri Lanka at The Oval on Sunday after he was ruled out with a hamstring injury picked up during the second match of the series. Buttler suffered the injury while attempting to run between the wickets during the second match at Headingley.

He scored 69 runs, with his score standing out as a significant individual contribution. It was Buttler’s best ODI score for England in three years, despite that England suffered a 16-run defeat.

England have Dan Lawrence to the squad as cover. Notably, Lawrence has yet to make his international debut in either of England’s white-ball formats. Sri Lanka fought hard in the second ODI to level the three-match series at 1-1.
