New Zealand have unveiled their squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia, beginning on October 18. Offspinner Eden Carson returns to the side after a long time. She has been out of international cricket since last December after undergoing elbow surgery.

“To be back in the White Ferns environment is really special,” Carson said.

“The rehab process has taken a lot of patience, but I've been fortunate to have great support around me and I'm feeling ready to get back out there and contribute.”

The squad also includes the return of wicketkeeper-batter Bella James and fast bowlers Molly Penfold and Hannah Rowe. Melie Kerr will continue to lead the team as New Zealand begin preparations for a demanding season. The upcoming series is crucial for New Zealand in their preparation for the inaugural Women's Champion Trophy in India in 2027.

Meanwhile, Dean Brownlie, who has been the batting coach of the New Zealand women's team for about four years, will serve as interim head coach for the tour.

"There's a balance of experience and future-focus in this squad and it's going to be a chance for the group to test themselves against a quality side," Brownlie said.

"Competing against the best in the world is always going to be a challenge, but it also provides a lot of opportunities to learn and strengthen skillsets within that."

New Zealand squad: Melie Kerr (C), Eden Carson, Flora Devonshire, Maddy Green, Brooke Halliday, Bree Illing, Polly Inglis, Bella James, Jess Kerr, Rosemary Mair, Nensi Patel, Molly Penfold, Georgia Plimmer, Hannah Rowe, Izzy Sharp
