IND vs WI, 3rd ODI: India target clean sweep as West Indies look to stop Indian juggernaut

India and West Indies are set to meet in the third and final ODI on Saturday in Mullanpur. The series has already been clinched by India, having claimed tremendous victories in the first two games. Though the game is a dead rubber, it gives both teams an opportunity to experiment with their combinations in the sun up to the ODI World Cup 2027. India sealed the series in emphatic fashion in Guwahati, chasing down a massive target of 406 in record-breaking style.
Shubman Gill smashed a double hundred while Rohit Sharma slammed a much-needed century to lift India to a commanding win. Now, with the series already secured, the final ODI provides the Indian management with the chance to test players who have had little opportunity so far. Ruturaj Gaikwad and KL Rahul are among those waiting for an opportunity, while several all-rounders have also yet to spend meaningful time at the crease because top-order batters have done the job in the past two games.
India, however, have been dealt a setback in the bowling department. Prasidh Krishna has been ruled out of the final ODI, with the injury also casting doubts over his availability for the upcoming New Zealand tour. Anshul Kamboj has been brought in after being released from India A's red-ball fixture against Australia A. Meanwhile, Mohammed Siraj has already been warming the benches and could get a chance in the final ODI. For West Indies, the second ODI is a chance to end the series on a high note.
Their batting was on fire in the second ODI, piling up a massive 405, their highest total in ODI cricket. Their three batters blasted centuries. Justin Greaves, who struck a century in the opening ODI, missed the second match because of a calf problem and remains doubtful for the finale. But their other top-order batters have handled the things very well and would be expected to play a greater role.
