India and West Indies punished for slow over-rates following third ODI

India and West Indies have both been penalised for maintaining slow over-rates during the third and final ODI in New Chandigarh on Saturday. India were fined 20 per cent of their match fees after being found to be short of four overs within the stipulated time. West Indies, meanwhile, were found to have fallen two overs behind schedule and were fined 10 percent of their match fees.
"In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined five per cent of their match fee for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," the ICC said in a statement.
The fines come after a thrilling final ODI in which West Indies challenged India to make a stunning turnaround to avoid a clean sweep. Having already lost the series with defeats in the first two ODIs, West Indies bounced back strongly in New Chandigarh, chasing down a formidable target of 352 to secure a five-wicket victory.
