Pathum Nissanka ruled out of Pakistan ODI Tri-Series, Lahiru Udara brought in as replacement

Sri Lanka have suffered a huge blow ahead of the ODI tri-series in Pakistan, with opener Pathum Nissanka ruled out of the series after failing to recover completely from a left hamstring injury which he picked up during Sri Lanka’s white-ball tour of England.
Lahiru Udara has been named as his replacement. Notably, Nissanka had been included in Sri Lanka’s 16-member squad, but his participation was subject to fitness clearance. For Udara, he has featured for Sri Lanka in five Tests and seven T20Is; however, he is yet to make his ODI debut. Recently, Udara was left out of Sri Lanka’s Test squad for the upcoming series against Pakistan, which came as a surprise, especially after his impressive 188 against West Indies in July.
However, he has struggled to build on that performance, failing to score more than 30 in his next five Test innings. Nissanka, meanwhile, is part of the 15-member squad for the two-match Test series against Pakistan, but again, his availability remains subject to fitness. The tri-nation ODI series also involving England will start on October 18.
