India have brought experienced fast bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar back into the squad for the fifth and final T20I against West Indies after Arshdeep Singh suffered a blow to his bowling shoulder during the fourth match. Bhuvneshwar’s return to the side comes at a very crucial stage of the series because India’s bowling attack has struggled to contain West Indies’s aggressive power-hitting. Meanwhile, India’s bowling coach Morne Morkel has welcomed Bhuvneshwar back in the setup, asserting that Kumar’s knowledge of the game will be very useful.

“(I am) very excited to have him back in the mix. Obviously, he has done really well for RCB in the past. I think his experience will add a lot of value to a younger bowling attack. So, yeah, great work. Excited to have him," he added.

In the ongoing series, the major concern for India has been defending big scores. India won the first T20I comfortably, but in the second game in Ranchi, India posted a total of 250, but the side remained unable to prevent West Indies from completing a stunning chase.

They reached 252/4 in 18.3 overs, with Shai Hope plundering an unbeaten 102. India, meanwhile, came back strongly in the third match, defending 223 to secure a 14-run victory. But again, India in the fourth match, India failed to control West Indies, with Shai Hope scoring an unbeaten century, again taking the side to 247/3. India, on the other hand, were bowled out for 223 in 19.3 overs.

Updated India T20I squad: Shreyas Iyer (c), Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan (wk), Sanju Samson (wk), Tilak Varma (vc), Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, Mayank Yadav, Naman Dhir, Bhuvneshwar Kumar
