Bangladesh captain Litton Das has been ruled out of the tri-series, featuring Afghanistan and Zimbabwe, due to a hip injury. Vice-captain Towhid Hridoy has been handed the captaincy in the absence of Das. Meanwhile, Parvez Hossain Emon has been brought into the ODI squad as a replacement for Litton Das.

“Litton Kumar Das complained of pain in his right hip joint yesterday. We conducted an MRI, and the report showed that he has a problem in the right hip joint,” team physio Bayejedul Islam said.

“He still tried to complete the fitness test today to see whether he could play. However, he could not meet the benchmark we wanted, so he is not available for this series,” he said.

Litton recently took over as Bangladesh’s full-time ODI captain in July, succeeding Mehidy Hasan Miraz, but he has been the victim of interrupted fitness concerns, which also kept him out of Bangladesh’s tour of Zimbabwe earlier that month.
