West Indies have named Shamar Springer as Keemo Paul’s replacement for their upcoming two-match Test series against Bangladesh. Paul is set to head home due to personal and family reasons, according to CWI. Springer, who has featured for West Indies in three ODIs and 12 T20Is, is yet to make his debut in Test cricket.

However, he has done wonderfully well in first-class cricket, scoring 1,043 runs and taking 58 wickets in 23 matches. CWI also said that pacers Ojay Shields and Nial Smith were also considered as replacements for Paul but they were ruled out due to injury.

The opening Test between Bangladesh and West Indies is scheduled to take place in Mirpur from October 28 to November 1, while the second Test will be played in Sylhet from November 5 to 9.

Updated West Indies squad for Bangladesh Tests: Roston Chase (c), Jomel Warrican (vice-capt), Joshua Bishop, John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Joshua Da Silva (wk), Justin Greaves, Kavem Hodge, Amir Jangoo (wk), Shamar Joseph, Brandon King, Kemar Roach, Jayden Seales, Shamar Springer, Kevin Wickham
