AFG vs ZIM: Rashid Khan's all-round brilliance powers Afghanistan to 37-run win

Afghanistan defeated Zimbabwe by 37 runs in the first T20I at Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, thanks to an impressive all-round performance from captain Rashid Khan and a quick half-century from Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai. Rashid scored 30 runs off just 10 balls and took two wickets for 20 runs to help Afghanistan take the lead in the series. Batting first, Afghanistan struggled early and were reduced to 18/3 in just three overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz also found it difficult to score quickly as Zimbabwe's bowlers kept the pressure on. However, Ahmadzai and Shahidullah Kamal helped the team recover. Ahmadzai smashed 52 runs, while Kamal contributed 46. Rashid then added a quick 30 runs to lift Afghanistan to 177 before they were bowled out in 19.5 overs. Newman Nyamhuri was Zimbabwe's best bowler, taking four wickets for 31 runs.
Zimbabwe also had a poor start in their chase. Ben Curran was dismissed for seven, while Mujeeb ur Rahman and Rashid Khan removed key batters to put the hosts in control. Ryan Burl scored 32 runs, but Zimbabwe failed to build the partnerships needed to chase the target. Fazalhaq Farooqi took three wickets for 13 runs, while Rashid claimed two wickets. Zimbabwe were eventually bowled out for 140 in 19.1 overs, giving Afghanistan a 37-run victory.
Brief Scores: Afghanistan 177 all out in 19.5 overs (Ijaz Ahmad Ahmadzai 52, Shahidullah Kamal 46; Newman Nyamhuri 4/31) beat Zimbabwe 140 all out in 19.1 overs (Ryan Burl 32; Fazalhaq Farooqi 3/13, Rashid Khan 2/20) by 37 runs.
