Sri Lanka have unveiled a 14-member squad for the upcoming ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy in the United Arab Emirates, with Harshitha Samarawickrama set to captain the side in the absence of regular skipper Chamari Athapaththu. Among the notable inclusions are Vishmi Gunarathne and Nilakshika Silva, both of whom make their comeback to the squad after being left out of Sri Lanka’s teams for the Asian Games.

Fast bowler Malki Madara has also secured a place in the 14-member group. Notably, she was absent from both the Asia Cup and Asian Games squads. Sri Lanka have also made a surprising inclusion by bringing Sathya Sandeepani, who has received a T20I call-up after a gap of six years.

The all-rounder has only featured once in the format for Sri Lanka, having made her international debut against India in February 2020. Sri Lanka will begin their campaign by facing Ireland on November 12.

Sri Lanka squad: Harshitha Samarawickrama (c), Sanjana Kavindi, Imesha Dulani, Hasini Perera, Vishmi Gunarathne, Kaveesha Dilhari, Nilakshika Silva, Kaushini Nuthyangana, Sathya Sandeepani, Rashmika Sewwandi, Sugandika Kumari, Chamudi Praboda, Malki Madara, Chethana Vimukthi
