Amir Jangoo continued his impressive form in the subcontinent, scoring an unbeaten century to help West Indies recover from an early collapse on Day 1 of the opening Test against Bangladesh in Sylhet on Thursday.

Jangoo remained unbeaten on 111 at stumps, while Justin Greaves was not out on 35 as West Indies reached 235/4 in 70 overs. Bad light brought an early end to the day's play.

West Indies had a difficult start after losing three wickets for just 27 runs. Taskin Ahmed dismissed openers Brandon King and Joshua da Silva, while Hasan Mahmud removed Kavem Hodge to put Bangladesh in control.

Jangoo then joined Kevin Wickham to steady the innings. The pair batted patiently, adding 131 runs for the fourth wicket and taking West Indies to a much stronger position. Wickham scored a valuable 61 before Mahmud dismissed him, breaking the partnership.

Jangoo continued his impressive innings and brought up his second Test century with Greaves providing support at the other end. His knock helped West Indies finish the day in a solid position after the early setbacks.

Brief Scores: West Indies 235/4 in 70 overs (Amir Jangoo 111*, Kevin Wickham 61, Justin Greaves 35*; Hasan Mahmud 2/58, Taskin Ahmed 2/61) vs Bangladesh.
