Brisbane Heat beat Adelaide Strikers by 14 runs despite Wolvaardt-Penna fightback

Brisbane Heat registered a 14-run victory over Adelaide Strikers after posting 184/4 in their 20 overs. Despite strong half-centuries from Laura Wolvaardt and Madeline Penna, the Strikers finished on 170/5 in the chase.
Charli Knott starred with the bat, scoring 104 off 61 deliveries, while Orla Prendergast added an unbeaten 16 off just six balls. Sophie Ecclestone picked up one wicket for the Strikers.
In reply, Wolvaardt anchored the chase with 75 off 48 balls. She scored all 34 runs in her opening partnership with Maia Bouchier before the latter was dismissed for a four-ball duck. Tahlia McGrath then managed only 13 off 16 deliveries, slowing the Strikers' progress.
The key turning point came when Wolvaardt and Penna added 77 runs quickly, bringing Adelaide back into the contest. However, the Heat struck with crucial wickets to regain control. Lucy Hamilton's tight penultimate over left the Strikers needing 30 runs from the final six balls. Penna struck two fours and a six, but the target remained out of reach. Sarah Glenn finished with two wickets as Brisbane secured the win.
Brief Scores: Brisbane Heat 184/4 in 20 overs (Charli Knott 104 off 61, Orla Prendergast 16* off 6; Sophie Ecclestone 1/18) beat Adelaide Strikers 170/5 in 20 overs (Laura Wolvaardt 75 off 48, Madeline Penna 68 off 45; Sarah Glenn 2/19) by 14 runs.
