Rashid Khan not ready for test cricket yet, says Rahmat Shah

Afghanistan Test captain Rahmat Shah has confirmed that star leg-spinner Rashid Khan is not currently ready to return to Test cricket due to workload concerns following his back injury. However, he remains hopeful of Rashid's return once he regains full fitness. Rashid has been managing his workload, and the team's medical staff and physiotherapists have advised him to stay away from Test cricket for now. The decision has been taken to avoid risking his fitness and ensure his availability for white-ball cricket.
"Talking about Rashid, it has been recommended by the team medical staff and physio trainers that he should not be playing Test games at the moment because he is still not ready," Rahmat said. He added that Rashid loves playing Test cricket and would return to the squad once he is completely fit. "We cannot risk losing Rashid for white-ball cricket. He is such an important player. As soon as he gets ready and 100 per cent fit, he will obviously be part of the Test squad," Rahmat stated.
The Afghanistan captain also stressed the need for his team to play more Test matches and become part of the ICC World Test Championship, believing regular contests against top sides would help them develop. Afghanistan will take confidence from their drawn Test against Bangladesh, where they successfully chased a target of 479. They will now face Zimbabwe in a two-match Test series, with the opening match beginning on November 5 at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The second Test will be played at the same venue from November 13.
