Sri Lanka handed massive blow ahead of the Asia Cup final
Sri Lanka's charismatic bowler Maheesh Theekshana will be missing the most crucial final of the Asia Cup against India on Sunday at R. Premadasa Stadium due to injury. Theekshana’s impactful bowling attack will be missed by Sri Lanka due to his injury. Theekshana had picked up hamstring injury during Sri Lanka’s Super Four match against Pakistan. Due to injury, Theekshana has been ruled out of the final.
“Maheesh Theekshana, who strained his right hamstring during the game against Pakistan, will not be available for the finals. A scan was done and confirmed the muscle injury. Sri Lanka Cricket Selectors have brought in Sahan Arachchige into the squad in place of Theekshana. Theekshana will return to the High Performance Center to commence rehabilitation work,” read the statement released by Sri Lanka Cricket.
Injury to Theekshana will be a huge setback for Sri Lanka as Theekshana has been incredibly accurate and stable in his bowling attack. However, Sri Lanka would look forward to adjusting themselves without Theekshana. Theekshana had bowled beautifully in the match against Pakistan and Bangladesh.
