WBBL 2023: Brisbane Heat Women topple Adelaide Strikers Women

In the 35th match of the ongoing Women’s Big Bash League tournament, Brisbane Heat Women registered their 4-wicket win against Adelaide Strikers Women on Saturday at Harrup Park. Having decided to bat after winning the toss, Adelaide Strikers Women got to (137) in (20) overs after losing (4) wickets. Adelaide Strikers Women had a wilted start with openers Katie Mack and Laura Wolvaardt throwing their wickets away for (14) and (12) respectively. Tahlia McGrath fell for duck. Meanwhile, brilliant innings from Madeline Penna (57) and Danielle Gibson (34) led the team to (137). Chasing the target, Brisbane Heat Women lost their top three batters Grace Harris (10), Georgia Redmayne (9) and Amelia Kerr (3) in quick succession but Mignon du Preez propelled the team’s chase with her 60-run score. Charli Knott too chipped in with her 21-run score to keep the side positive. Down the order, Georgia Voll and Bess Heath remained unbeaten on (7) and (8) respectively to take the team over the line.
