New Zealand batter Kane Williamson smashed his 29th Test century on Wednesday in the ongoing first Test match against Bangladesh in Sylhet. With his fine century, Kane Williamson levelled the record of having 29 Test centuries with Indian batter Virat Kohli. Williamson’s century helped New Zealand recover from early losses after openers Tom Latham and Devon Conway lost their wickets for 21 and 12 respectively. There was no major help from Henry Nicholls and Tom Blundell as New Zealand faced a tough challenge from Bangladesh’s solid bowling attack. Williamson top-scored for New Zealand with his 104-run knock before being taken out by Taijul Islam. Daryl Mitchell and Glenn Phillips provided some much needed support with their 41 and 42 runs respectively. Earlier, New Zealand had bowled out Bangladesh for 310 with Glenn Phillips returning with four wickets. For Bangladesh, Mahmudul Hasan Joy had remained the top run-getter with his 86-run knock.
