SL vs ZIM 1st T20I: Mathews instrumental in Sri Lanka's last-ball win

Sri Lanka thrashed Zimbabwe by three wickets in the first T20I game on Sunday at R. Premadasa Stadium in Colombo to secure a 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Chasing the total of (143), Sri Lanka faced disappointment with Pathum Nissanka losing his wickets in the first over itself. However, Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera put up (17) runs each to keep the momentum going for the team. 

In the middle, Sri Lanka again suffered blows with the wickets of Sadeera Samarawickrama and Charith Asalanka managing to get (9) and (6) respectively. Veteran Angelo Mathews remained defiant and firm with his (46) off (38) to ensure teamโ€™s win. Down the order, Dasun Shanaka remained unbeaten on (26) to lift the side to an encouraging win. 

Earlier, Zimbabwe put into bat, were shored up by their skipper Sikandar Raza, who scored (62) runs off (42), to a manageable total. Zimababwe, meanwhile posed a tough fight to Sri Lanka, but could not ensure victory for themselves.
