Earlier, asked to bat, Sri Lanka lost their top three batters in quick succession Pathum Nissanka, Kusal Mendis and Kusal Perera losing their wickets for (1), (4) and (0) respectively. However, Sri Lanka found the momentum to move towards a fighting total with the pivotal help coming in from Charith Asalanka and veteran Angelo Mathews hammering (69) and (66*) respectively.
Zimbabwean, led by Sikandar Raza, executed disciplined strategies, managing to pick up wickets at crucial intervals.
