Angelo Mathews, Kamindu Mendis make gains in ICC Men’s rankings

Sri Lankan all-rounders Kamindu Mendis and Angelo Mathews have made big strides in the ICC Men’s Test Player rankings on the back of their remarkable performances in the second Test match against Bangladesh that Sri Lanka won by (192) runs, sweeping the two-match series 2-0. 

Kamindu Mendis contributed to team’s success with his 92-run knock unbeaten in the first innings and nine in the second innings that helped him move eighteen spots to 46th in the batters’ list.  He also returned with three wickets in the second innings, advancing to the 117th position in bowlers’ rankings.

Angelo Mathews, who scored (23) in the first innings and (56) in the second innings respectively, has jumped two points to reach 25th. Their compatriot Kusal Mendis has been lifted three places to 52nd after producing (93) in the first innings of the second Test. Bangladesh batter Zakir Hasan, on the back of his (54) and (19) respectively, has moved three places to 75th in batters’ rankings. Mehidy Hasan Miraz has also made gains, moving from 99th to 88th after a blazing (81) unbeaten in the second innings.
