The first T20I match of the five-match series between Pakistan and New Zealand was washed out on Thursday due to relentless downpour lashing the parts of Rawalpindi. After the two-hour delay, match officials decided to reduce the game to five overs, with New Zealand having decided to bat after winning the toss.

As the proceedings for the five-over game got underway, New Zealand lost Tim Seifert, with Shaheen Afridi drawing the first blood. But it again started to rain heavily, forcing the match officials to abandon the game. The second game will be played on Saturday.
