Former Pakistan cricketers Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq, who were serving as selectors, have been sacked from Pakistan Cricket Board's (PCB) selection committee. The significant development has come in the aftermath of Pakistan’s dismal show at the recently concluded T20I World Cup 2024. The removal of Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq has come as a huge surprise following Pakistan’s disastrous show.

Pakistan failed to advance to the Super 8 stage of the tournament, having been eliminated from the tournament in the group stage itself. Abdul Razzaq, who was serving as selector for women’s team as well, will no longer serve there either. As per a report in ESPNcricinfo, the departures of both gentlemen will be announced later this week.

Riaz was earlier this year removed as chief selector and was appointed one of seven selectors to a committee that had no chief, however, Wahab was considered to be the head of the committee, given his superior stature.
