Sri Lankan fast bowler Nuwan Thushara, who is contracted to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), has taken legal action against top officials of Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) after being denied a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL).

Thushara has filed a petition in the Colombo District Court seeking judicial intervention to compel SLC to issue him the mandatory NOC required for overseas league participation. According to NewsWire, he has named several top SLC officials in the case. The court has taken up the case and the hearing is scheduled for April 9, 2026.

β€œIn his plaint, the pacer has named SLC president Shammi Silva, secretary Bandula Dissanayake, treasurer Sujeewa Godaliyadda, and CEO Ashley de Silva as defendants,” NewsWire reports.

On the other hand, SLC has maintained that Thushara has failed to meet the required fitness levels, mandatory to get NOCs to participate in foreign leagues, including the IPL. Moreover, his central contract with SLC expired on March 31, 2026, and he had already informed the board of his intention not to renew it.
