ECB pulls Chris Woakes out of The Hundred amid Ben Stokes injury

The ECB has decided to pull pacer Chris Woakes out of the ongoing The Hundred competition in order to manage his workload ahead of England’s Test series against Sri Lanka. England’s Test series against Sri Lanka is scheduled to get underway on August 21. The decision comes in the wake of an injury to England skipper Ben Stokes.
As for Woakes, he was representing Birmingham Phoenix in The Hundred competition, but will not be appearing for the team for the remainder of the tournament. Ben Stokes picked up the injury while playing for Northern Superchargers in the Hundred Competition, putting himself under the cloud for Sri Lanka Tests.
Stokes suffered a hamstring injury while running between the wickets and subsequently was carried off the field. Later, at the end of the game, Stokes was seen on crutches as he shook hands with oppositions players. England will also be missing the presence of Zak Crawley, who has been left out of the squad due to a fractured finger. England had included uncapped batter Jordan Cox to replace Zak Crawley.
