Travis Head's destructive and record-breaking ton guided Australia to a seven-wicket win over England, who were led by Harry Brook in the absence of injured Jos Buttler.
Travis Head’s imposing 154* made him the first Australian to register the highest score in an ODI against England in England. In the first ODI, Australia missed few of their top-quality players due to illness. Players like Josh Hazlewood, Mitchell Marsh and Glenn Maxwell were unable for selection due to illness.
England showed some courage with Ben Duckett and Will Jacks guiding the side to a sizeable total but Australia were too aggressive to contain. Another major highlight of Australia’s victory was Marnus Labuschagne, who made significant contribution with both bat and ball, claiming three wickets and scoring 77 unbeaten.
