Joe Root scripts history with this remarkable record

England’s evergreen batter Joe Root scripted history on Tuesday by becoming the first batter in the world cricket to score 5000 runs in the World Test Championship. Root reached the landmark during the day two of England’s ongoing first Test match against Pakistan in Multan. Coming to bat on day two, Root had needed 27 runs to achieve the record. Root finished the day two with 32 runs unbeaten, inlcuding two boundaries.
Australia’s Marnus Labuschagne is second in the list with 3904 runs in 45 WTC matches. While, fellow teammate Steve Smith is in third place with 3486 runs in 45 matches. Joe Root currently sits on top in the ICC Test rankings.
