South Africa have secured their place in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC) final after sealing a nerve-racking 2-wicket victory over Pakistan in the first match of the ongoing two-match Test series on Sunday at Centurion. The match, which witnessed tense moments and outstanding performances, saw South Africa chase down a target of 148, with tailenders Kagiso Rabada and Marco Jansen playing heroic innings to guide the team to victory.

Earlier, Pakistan being put in to bat by South Africa after winning the toss, were able to post a total of 211 runs in their first innings, with Kamran Ghulam being the top-scorer with 54. At the same time, South African bowlers Dane Paterson and Corbin Bosch, taking five and four wickets respectively, managed to restrict Pakistan to a manageable total.

In response, South Africa's batting lineup was met with a stiff challenge, but still they were able to post 301 on the back of powerful innings from Aiden Markram and Corbin Bosch scoring (89) and (81) respectively. In their second innings, Pakistan once again showed their fighting spirit, managing to score 237 runs. This left South Africa with a target of 148 runs to win. The chase wasn't easy for South Africa as Pakistan’s bowlers, with their backs against the wall, were determined to put South Africa under pressure.

With the strong resistance from Pakistan’s bowlers, South Africa's top order could not quite capitalize on the chase, leaving them with a tough task ahead. However, it was the tailenders, Rabada and Jansen, who stepped up to lead the side to a hard-fought victory.
