Injury threatens Healy’s Ashes future as she misses first T20I

Australian skipper Alyssa Healy has been ruled out of the first T20I match of the ongoing Ashes series after sustaining foot soreness. And, she remains in doubts for the rest of Ashes. Healy has sustained the soreness on the same foot she picked up injury to during the T20I World Cup in October last year.
“She is currently being managed in a boot and will not be available for this evening’s game,” a statement from Cricket Australia stated.
“Cricket Australia’s medical team is consulting with specialists to develop an appropriate management plan over the coming days. Her availability for the remainder of the series will be assessed as more information becomes available.”
Australia’s squad for One-Off Test, which was scheduled to be named on Monday, has been delayed due to Healy’s injury. Vice-captain Tahlia McGrath is likely to lead the side in Healy’s absence while Beth Mooney is expected to take up the wicketkeeping responsibilities. Healy also wasn’t part of Australia’s ODI series against India last month due to a knee issue and played as a specialist batter during New Zealand ODIs.
