Australian spinner Matthew Kuhnemann has been cleared to play in Australia’s upcoming first Test match against Sri Lanka, beginning on January 29 in Galle. Kuhnemann was in doubts following a thumb injury, but he will now be available for selection for the first Test.

He underwent surgery after fracturing his right thumb while playing for Brisbane Heat in the ongoing Big Bash League. Due to injury, he missed Australia’s training camp in Dubai. However, Cricket Australia has now confirmed Kuhnemann’s availability for the first Test against Sri Lanka.

Kuhnemann will be flying to Sri Lanka over the weekend along with Oliver Peake, who has been called in as a development player.
