Australia dominated Sri Lanka’s spin artillery on Wednesday on day one of the ongoing first of the two Tests against in Galle. Australia took advantage of a prolific start provided by Travis Head scoring 57 off 40. But, the most striking moment of the day remained Steve Smith (104*) and Usman Khawaja’s (147*) dominant performances.

Both batters starred with their centuries, partnering for an unbroken stand of 195. This was Usman Khawaja’s first Test century in almost two years, while Steve Smith achieved a mammoth milestone with his interesting knock. During the process, Steve Smith completed his 10,000 Test runs and also brought up his 35th Test ton. He became the fourth Australian batter to register 10k Test runs.

17 of Smith’s 35 hundreds have come away from home. With this he has surpassed Indian batting legend Virat Kohli for most away Test hundreds. Australia on day one piled up 330 for the loss of two wickets.
