Australian batter Usman Khawaja scored his maiden double-hundred in Test on day two of the ongoing second Test on Thursday at Galle International Stadium, Galle. As Australia continued to pile pressure on Sri Lanka, strengthening their first innings total, Khawaja approached lunch on 204 unbeaten.

This was also Khawaja’s highest Test score, surpassing his previous 195* he scored against South Africa at Sydney Cricket Ground in 2023. He has become the first Australian batter to score a Test double-hundred in Sri Lanka. Khawaja’s masterclass batting has put Australia in a supreme position as they continue to thwart Sri Lankan tactics.

Khawaja resumed his innings on day two on Thursday on an overnight score of 147no and meticulously navigated through Sri Lanka's bowling attack to reach his first ever double ton. Earlier, Smith and Khawaja guided the side to a stronger position with their 266-run partnership. On day two, Smith added 37 runs before losing his wicket to Jeffrey Vandersay on 141 off 251. On the other hand, debutant Josh Inglis also smacked his half-century.
