The second ODI match between New Zealand and Pakistan is set to be played on Wednesday in Hamilton. Black Caps lead the three-match series 1-0, following their comprehensive victory in the opening encounter. The Black Caps, buoyed by a stellar performance in the first game, will be eager to extend their lead and take a commanding 2-0 series-clinching lead. Pakistan, on the other hand, will be looking to bounce back and level the series, setting up a thrilling contest on the horizon. The second ODI is highly consequential for Pakistan to stay alive in the series.

In the first game, New Zealand showcased their flawless skills in both batting and bowling departments to cruise to a commanding 73-run victory. The star of the match was Mark Chapman, who scored a remarkable century, which saw him score a blistering 132 runs, leading the Black Caps to a towering total. Later, bowlers stepped up to finish the job for New Zealand. However, New Zealand will miss the services of Mark Chapman, who has been ruled out of the second ODI due to a hamstring injury. Moreover, they will be without Will Young for the rest of the series as he awaits the birth of his child.

With the series now tilted in New Zealand’s favour, Pakistan face the challenge of recovering and finding a way to level the series. Their opener, Usman Khan, has been ruled out of the second match following an injury. Imam-ul-Haq is expected to step in to open the innings for the side. Pakistan, however, will be desperate to find a way to bounce back and take the series to a decider in the third ODI.
