IPL 2025, MI vs LSG: Mumbai Indians race to fifth straight win

Mumbai Indians’ commanding form continued as they defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 54 runs in an electrifying contest on Sunday at Wankhede Stadium.
After being asked to bat, Mumbai Indians’ batters made full use of the opportunity, putting up a formidable total of 215 runs on the board for the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs. Their innings was led by Ryan Rickelton and Suryakumar Yadav, who emerged as the saviours for MI. Opener Rickelton’s aggressive 58-run knock set the tone, while Yadav’s equally attacking (54 off 28) balls kept the momentum going. Their crucial partnership provided the backbone of the innings, setting up a daunting target for the visitors.
In reply, LSG struggled right from the outset. Early wickets and the lack of any significant partnerships proved costly in their chase. In spite of some resistance from Mitchell Marsh (34) and Ayush Badoni (35), LSG couldn’t find the rhythm or firepower needed to chase down the target. Even David Miller, lower in the order, couldn’t demonstrate his destructive batting skills, losing his wicket for 24 as LSG were bowled out for (161) in 20 overs.
For MI, Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult picked four and three wickets, respectively. While Will Jacks and Corbin Bosch took two and one wicket, respectively.
