“He has nothing more to prove”: Adam Gilchrist on MS Dhoni’s IPL future

Former Australian wicketkeeper-batter Adam Gilchrist, expressing his views on MS Dhoni’s IPL career, feels that the legendary player should call time on his IPL career and should not play the next season. Chennai Super Kings, meanwhile, are struggling to stay alive in the ongoing season of IPL, having lost seven of nine games so far.
MS Dhoni, who is leading the side in the absence of regular skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad, who is on the sidelines due to injury, has been struggling to get runs this season, failing repeatedly to demonstrate his natural hitting abilities. Furthermore, CSK’s chances to remain in contention for the playoffs are diminishing with each passing day as they hope to claim miracle victories in their upcoming encounters.
“The big one, MS Dhoni. He has nothing more to prove to anyone in the game. He has achieved everything that there is. MS, well, he'll know what he wants to do. But I'm saying for the future — it's going to cost me this, I know — but perhaps he doesn't need to be there next year. I love you, MS. You are a champion, an icon,” Gilchrist said on Cricbuzz.
CSK are currently sitting at the bottom of the points table, with their batters and bowlers struggling to step up and rise to the occasion. Their remaining matches now present a make-or-break situation as they look to put themselves in a strong position and search for a winning formula.
