PBKS edge out Mumbai in high-stakes showdown

Punjab Kings, on Monday in Jaipur, stamped their authority in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 with a dominant seven-wicket victory over Mumbai Indians, securing a top-two finish and a spot in the qualifier 1. PBKS, one of the most consistent sides this season, delivered a clinical all-round performance in a high-stakes clash.
Chasing a competitive target of 185, Punjab were propelled by explosive half-centuries from Priyansh Arya and Josh Inglis. The duo ravaged MI’s bowling attack with composed batting. Arya finished on 62 and Inglis on 73 as Punjab cruised to 187/3 in just 18.3 overs.
Earlier, Mumbai Indians, after being put in to bat, posted a modest 184/7 in 20 overs. Suryakumar Yadav was the standout performer with the bat, smashing 57 runs in a brisk innings that gave MI some momentum. Openers Ryan Rickelton (27) and Rohit Sharma (24) got off to decent starts but failed to convert them into big scores.
