Cameron Green reveals Bumrah’s message before back surgery

Having been out of action for so many months due to back surgery, Australian all-rounder Cameron Green is preparing for the World Test Championship Final against South Africa beginning June 11 at Lord’s. Cameron Green, who underwent back surgery in October last year, revealed a message from Indian bowling superstar Jasprit Bumrah on the eve of the surgery that filled him with immense confidence.
At the IPL 2023, Green featured for the Mumbai Indians while Bumrah had been sidelined following his recovery from back surgery. However, Bumrah made a sensational comeback, playing a significant role in India’s breathtaking victory at the T20I World Cup 2024. And later he stamped his authority in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, snaring 32 wickets.
“That is really special. And makes you feel a lot better about it. I didn't play with him in Mumbai, but that was the connection through there. Spent a bit of time with him there,” Green said as quoted by Cricbuzz.
"To get someone like him to reach out and then to watch him during the summer, to see how good he is obviously post-surgery, filled me with a lot of confidence," Green said.
The comeback for Green has been incredibly strong, having smashed three hundreds in his county stint with Gloucestershire.
“The silver lining to having four back injuries is I’ve got four chances only to be a batter. I felt like my game’s always been good around those periods. So, that’s never to take away, I’m always going to be keep bowling. But you’re so much more relaxed. Half a game to worry about, which is obviously nice,” Green said.
