Nicholas Pooran named MI New York captain

Nicholas Pooran has been appointed captain of the MI New York, taking over from Kieron Pollard. Notably, Pooran announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday, drawing curtains on his swashbuckling career at 29. He has been associated with the MI since the 2023 season of the MLC. 

Having played 15 matches, Pooran has scored 568 runs for MI. He had played a huge role in the team’s title win in 2023, slamming 137* off 55 deliveries. MI had chased down the target of 184 in 16 overs for the loss of three wickets. Pooran was the highest run-scorer in MLC 2023 with 388 runs.
