Lanka Premier League 2025 to begin on November 27
The dates for the sixth edition of the Lanka Premier League (LPL) have been announced as the tournament is set to run from November 27 to December 23. The blockbuster event will be played across three venues - R Premadasa International Cricket Stadium (Colombo), Pallekele International Cricket Stadium (Pallekele) and R Dambulla International Cricket Stadium (Dambulla). Usually, the tournament is held in July-August; however, keeping in view the upcoming T20I World Cup, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) preferred this window.
“The idea to conduct the LPL during this time frame is aimed at aligning the tournament with the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026,” LPL tournament director Samantha Dodanwela said in a statement.
Jaffna Kings, who won the title last year after demolishing Galle Marvels by 9 wickets, will head into the tournament as the defending champions.
