ENG vs IND 5th Test: Chris Woakes ruled out of remainder of final Test
England pacer Chris Woakes has been ruled out of the remainder of the ongoing fifth Test against India with a shoulder injury. Woakes picked up the injury on day one while attempting to keep the ball off the boundary. During the process, he landed awkwardly on his shoulder, prompting immediate medical attention. He was later escorted off the field as he was visibly in huge pain. Meanwhile, Woakes’ absence is a big setback to England’s weak bowling attack.
“Chris Woakes set to play no further part in the fifth Test. A further assessment will take place at the end of the series," England Cricket wrote on X.
With Chris Woakes no longer in the scheme of things, England’s bowling attack will be led by Josh Tongue, Gus Atkinson, Jamie Overton and Jacob Bethell.
