Shubman Gill, the newly appointed Indian Test captain, delivered a masterclass performance in the recently concluded five-match Test series against England, churning out a series of eye-catching performances. The series against England was much more significant for Gill because it was his first assignment as India’s Test captain. Fittingly, the series turned out to be remarkable for him, as he not only led the side to a dominant 2-2 series draw but also emerged as the highest run-scorer of the series with an impressive 754 runs.

“The Test series against England was a learning experience for me as captain, and we had some outstanding performances from both sides, which I am sure players from both sides will remember for a long time,” Gill said in an ICC release.

During the series, Gill slammed four centuries, including a marvellous 269.

“The double ton in Birmingham is obviously something I will cherish forever and will be one of the highlights of my tour to England,” Gill said.

Following his exceptional performance in England, Gill was named the ICC Player of the Month for July.

"It feels great to be named the ICC Player of the Month for July.”

“This time it holds a lot more significance since it has come for my performances during my first Test series as captain.”

“I would like to thank the jury for selecting me for this award and my teammates who have been with me during the course of this exciting series. I look forward to continuing my form in the season ahead and bringing more laurels for the country,” Gill stated.
