Following an action-packed three-match T20I series, Australia and South Africa are gearing up to face each other in the first ODI of a three-match series on Tuesday in Cairns. Australian side enters the 50-over format brimming with confidence, having registered a thrilling 2-1 victory in the preceding T20I series. Riding high on the back of pulsating performances in the T20Is, Australia will look to carry the momentum forward, but South Africa, with their powerful squad, will be no pushovers.

Despite the setback, the Proteas showed resilience, challenging Australia with gutsy performances. Mitchell Marsh, who was outstanding in T20Is, will once again be at the helm. Meanwhile, Australia boast a powerful lineup, featuring the likes of Alex Carey, Cooper Connolly, Cameron Green, Aaron Hardie, Josh Hazlewood, Travis Head, and Marnus Labuschagne.

There will be no Maxwell for Australia in ODIs, as he has retired from the format. South Africa, on the other hand, have been boosted by the return of Temba Bavuma, who will also lead the side, Keshav Maharaj, Wiaan Mulder, Tony de Zorzi and Matthew Breetzke.
