R. Ashwin goes unsold at ILT20 auction

Former Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin went unsold in the inaugural ILT20's first-ever full-scale player auction in Dubai. Ashwin had entered the auction with a base price of USD 120,000, the highest for any player in the auction.
It came as a massive surprise, as Ashwin was viewed as a marquee name, having recently retired from both international cricket and the IPL (Indian Premier League) in order to explore opportunities in overseas leagues.Despite expectations, no franchise bid for him once the bidding began, and he did not re-enter in the accelerated auction.
Ashwin carries vast experience, having taken 72 wickets in 65 T20Is for India at 23.22. He has also played extensively in the IPL, taking 187 wickets from 221 matches. While Ashwin was unsold, several other players were acquired by franchises — some at their base price, others in competitive bidding. Notably, Pakistan's Fakhar Zaman, Hasan Nawaz and Naseem Shah were picked up by Desert Vipers at their base prices.
